Requirements
The ideal candidate for the position would have an educational background in Life Science, preferably with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree. Moreover, the candidate should meet all the regulatory requirements, as outlined by CLIA and State. The State of New York mandates that a clinical laboratory license must be secured in order to operate. Having previous exposure to histology would be helpful, but it is not a necessary prerequisite. Knowledge of the specific properties of various stains and the ability to properly apply them is integral in producing clear images for microscopic analysis. Simple integration of both substantial and slight samples. The capacity to read and comprehend every label and accompanying documentation correctly. Proactively structured, with a keen attention to the fine points. Employers prefer candidates who have worked in a laboratory that operates at a high volume. Job Description
In order to properly examine human body fluids and tissues under a microscope, sample processing is an essential step. Carry out activities necessary to create histopathological slides from surgery samples. In order to examine the embedded tissue under a microscope, it's necessary to use a microtome to slice the tissue into sections and secure the section onto the slide. Perform various immunohistochemical tests on tissue sections that were fixed in formalin and embedded in paraffin for analysis. In addition to traditional staining methods, newer imaging technologies such as confocal microscopy have allowed for more detailed visualization and analysis of mounted sections. When embedding tissues, it is important to accurately label each sample to avoid confusion and misinterpretation. Reagents can be prepared in bulk quantities and stored properly until needed for future use. Accuracy and timeliness in reporting test results play a critical role in the provision of quality patient care. Accuracy and timeliness in reporting test results play a critical role in the provision of quality patient care. The use of manual instruments requires excellent hand-eye coordination and dexterity, while automated devices require an understanding of software and computer programs. Implement a schedule for equipment maintenance and update as necessary through documentation of progress. Log equipment data with precision and in a timely fashion. Documenting all preventive maintenance and quality control activities is crucial to ensure that procedures are consistently followed and to track performance over time. Following the laboratory's quality control policies is essential in order to deliver consistent and reliable test results to the patients and clients. Maintain strict adherence to the laboratory's guidelines for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting, as failure to do so can result in inaccurate outcomes. To prevent these issues from negatively impacting test outcomes, testers should engage in thorough planning and preparation, including identifying backup plans should problems arise.
